If you are not addicted to pristine copies, you can find great prices at library sales, but you may find cleaner copies at yard sales or even at shops that don't specialize in books.

With best selling authors, discounts may be the best when a book is first released, so don't always wait thinking that you can get a better deal later.

Library is a great way to save, so check it out before you have to go and spend all your money on books that you will never reread.

Certain stores or outlets do not cut the dust jacket or mark the edges of remaindered books, which are sold at a fraction of the original price. Even first editions can turn up in remainder bins.

If you buy books online, always be wary of the shipping charges because it can be a significant portion of the cost. Many stores have free shipping policies, so make sure you know them and take advantage.

A book club is a great way to read new books as long as you don't care too much about future value. Give them serious consideration.

You can find great bargains online, but you must be cautious. Sometimes you may find that your local store has a better price. Online auctions and stores often charge exorbitant shipping fees. - 29864
